Sorry sorry

Is it really August already? Wow! Time flies. I feel like I should apologize for not posting more often but then I remember that it is pretty much not an option for me most all of the time. The conection speed in Serenje is 24kbs. Even opening this page on a computer there would take the same amount of time as it would for me to run a half marathon.

I really enjoyed sending mail in the states and now I like it even better. With mail you get cool stamps and its kinda like the same feeling as opening presents at Christmas. And since I hardly ever get mail--although I appreciate the people who send it very very much--its even more like Christmas.

My friend Evan sent me the book "Everyone Poops" and that sent me nearly out of this world. I translated it into the local language and then read it at an under five clinic to mothers and children. It was awesome!

I should really write more but I have another blog that I use more. But now you all now that I'm still alive and should be guilt ridden for not atleast emailing me your address so I can write to you.

Gotta jet pack to where I'm staying and get rid of the luggage I'm toting around before I go to see Pirates of the Carribean. Hope to hear from you this week people!

As time goes by...

I put that song from Casablanca on my MP3 player its really nice to go to bed and listen to that.  Just a thought.

So yeah i've been pretty dodgey on the posting and checking my mail but i've been in the bush for a  couple weeks on sencond site visit in the province I will be living in for the next two years. I will be posted in central province near Serenje. That probably doesn't mean much to you, but if you look it up on a map you could show your friends and that might be cool.

I have a  new address too, but I don't think that it would be a smart idea to post it up on here. So if you want it --and i think that you should want it -- that you should email me and then i'll send it to you. You could pretend you didn't know me and it would be like pen pals :)

Out of the Darkness

So it turns out the I haven't posted on here in a while, oops.

Well quick update, I live in Zambia now. No big deal just kinda doing my best to "live off the grid." With the obvious exception of when I come into town and use the internet and flushing toilets. But for the most part, definately off the grid.

I've been reading David Sedaris by candle light for the past week. It brings a whole new feeling to a book when you read it by candle light. Or maybe thats the feeling of my eyes deteriorating.  Either way.

It is amazing here in Zambia, specifically in Kitwe where I am currently habitating during training. In less than a week I find out which province that I will be assigned to and where exactly I will be doing my actual work. I'm pretty excited about the village life. My current village life is pretty metropolitan compared to what it will be/ could be. I havea really great home stay family. They have five children all under 12. I have little brothers and sisters, its pretty fun. I've playing alot of football, ie soccer.

I'll post some more up next week. If you want me to write you-- I want to write you too-- then it would be nice if you would email me your address or post it in the comments. Ask Jason, I do write and I love getting mail and newspaper cuts outs. And Dan if you read this, I would love you fovever if you would send me an MP3 cd chock full of the sweetest new music and classic 70's funk :)

Hope all is well!

Today is my last day of church at my church River Terrace that I will have for a very long time. I'm wearing all black--mostly because it is slimming though. So I hope that GOd will use today's message to speak to me and to get me into a good mind frame for my last week or my up coming life adventure. God is usually on top of stuff like that so I bet that this will be good.

Part two of this post to come after church.

Happy Jesus's Birthday to everyone! I think that I might officially start calling it that from now on. Then people won't be confused about whatthis day is all about. It may not technically actually be the day in history that Jesus was born but it it the day that we take to celebrate the start of one the most important times in history. What person in history can you name that a person on every continent on earth has heard of? Who else can say that they are emanuel and mean it?

No one.

I've been thinking more and more lately about all the temptation and sin in my life. All the things that I say I don't "regret" but feel over whelmed with guilt about. The toughest times of my life are marked with my own weakness and inability to rely on God. I think that instead of New Years resolutions there should be Christmas resolutions. New Years resolutions are so transparently about this world. Rarely have I thought of having a resolution that was not about working out more, eating better, being more organized, blah blah blah.... What I should have been doing is asking for forgiveness for my sins and strength to face a new year of temptation. Maybe by now I would be past guilt of my weaknesses and walking closer with the Birthday Boy himself.

Ohh and today my Dad pointed out a great full page ad in the paper that said "It's a Boy" with a smaller side part talking about knowing Jesus. Good for them. Clever clever.

Wel that about wraps it up, Merry Christmas!
